Source: Mulberry Reporter, Mulberry Indiana Date: Friday, August 7, 1925 Aaron L. Leibenguth died at his home in Battle ground sunday afternoon at 1:55 o'clock following an illness of eight months. Death came as the result of a complication of diseases. He was born in Cherryville, Northampton county, Pennsylvania, february 17, 1858. He was married to Rheumah L. Hunt of Slatington, 48 years ago. To this union were born nine children, five of whom proceeded their father in death. Surviving him besides his wife are three sons, Charles, Joseph and Amandus W. Leibenguth all of Lafayette, and a sister, Mrs. Oliver Kern of Slatesdale, Pennsylvania. Funeral services were conducted at the United Brethren church in Battle Ground, Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Interment was made in the Battle ground cemetery. ___________________________________

Leibenguth, 84, of 1927 Washington Ave., Northampton, died at 2:40 p.m. yesterday in Allentown Hospital, where he was a patient three weeks. He was in ill health several years. A native of Indianland, Northampton County, he resided in Northampton for 60 years. A carpenter by trade, he was organist of Grace Evangelical and Reformed Church, Northampton for 15 years and also of Coplay Evangelical and Reformed Church for a number of years. He played in the old Stemton Band from the time it was organized until it disbanded. He was a member of Grace Church and Camp 451, POS of A, Weaversville. His wife, Camila (Solt) Leibenguth died seven years ago. Surviving are a daughter, Evelyn, wife of Ray Beck, Northampton, with whom he resided; a son Reynold Leibenguth, Philadelphia, and three grandchildren. ___________________________________

Grandfather Source: The Morning Call, Allentown, Pennsylvania Date: Wednesday, 28 August 1963 Garage Man Found Dead. A 42 year old Allentown service station operator, Albert A. Leibenguth was found dead in his garage at 1024 W. Emaus Ave. by his wife yesterday afternoon. Lehigh county Coroner Clayton O.P. Werley said death was caused by asphyxiation by carbon monoxide poisoning. He ruled the death a suicide. Leibenguth was in the cab of a truck parked in the closed garage. Leibenguth resided at 711 N. Plymouth st., Allentown. He was born in Northampton, a son of Mrs. Florence (Levan) Leibenguth of Northampton and the late Jeffrey Leibenguth. He had been under a physician's care since January. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran church, Hanover Ave., Allentown. He was a World War II Air Force veteran. Surviving with his wife and mother are a daughter, Sharon A., and a son, Terry J., both at home; four sisters, Grace, wife of Quintus Mory, Allentown; Arlene, wife of Roy Smith, Kunkletown; Renee, wife of Paul J. Smith, Orefield, and Lorraine, wife of Willard Hockman, Northampton, and a brother, Willard of Catasauqua. Services will be 1:30 p.m Friday in the Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton. Viewing will be 7-9 p.m. tomorrow. Grandmother Source: The Morning Call, Allentown, Pennsylvania Date: June 8, 1988 Leibenguth-Demko-Knippa Althea Demko Knippa, 65, of Corpus Christi, Texas, formerly of Allentown, died Sunday in Spohn Hospital, Corpus Christi. She was the wife of Arthur Knippa. She was a supply clerk for the Civil Service, Corpus Chirsti, before retiring. She previously was a secretary for Diehl Storage, Allentown, and for an Allentown attorney. Born in Weaversville, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Gertrude (Hess) Schaffer. Survivors: Husband; sons, Kenneth Schaffer of Virginia Beach, Va., Albert Leibenguth of Allentown and Richard Demko Jr.; a daughter Lori Ann Demko; a stepsister, Helen Winkelman of Allentown, and seven grandchildren. She was married to Roland P. Leibenguth for 56 years in May. She was a nurse for 15 years for Quakertown Hospital, then worked for Dr. John Newell, Bethlehem, for 15 years before retiring in 1980. Born in Palmerton, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Swartz. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Hanover Township, where she was a member of the sewing and Women's groups, and volunteered in the kitchen. Survivors: Husband; niece. He was in his eighty-first year. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John Wright, of Rockdale; two brothers and three sisters, James, of Indianland, David, of Cementon; Mrs. Christian Houser, of Allentown; Mrs. George Perkins, of Easton, and Mrs. P.S. Laub of Siegfried. The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with all services at the home of Mrs. Nelson Snyder, Indianland. Leibenguth died at his home in Walnutport at 6:45 yesterday morning suffering from a complication of diseases, aged 51 years. He is survived by his widow, Lizzie (nee Caskie) and three daughters and one son, Mrs. Augustus Kline of Palmerton; Helen, Jennie and Alexander. One grandchild, one sister, Mrs. Oliver Kern, of Slatedale and one brother Aaron, of Indiana also survive. The funeral will take place on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with services at the house and continued in the Presbyterian church, at Slatington. He was the husband of Anna L. (Kuhns) Leibenguth. He retired from Universal Atlas Cement Co. in 1959 as a track foreman. He had been employed by the firm 43 years. Born n Northampton, he was a son of the late William and Annie (Kohler) Leibenguth. Leibenguth was a member of Egypt Lutheran Church. He was a charter member of the Catasauqua Moose. His widow is his only immediate survivor. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton. Source: The Morning Call, Allentown, Pennsylvania Date: Wednesday, 10 November 1915 Benjamin Leibenguth, aged fifty-six years of No. 422 North Fulton street, died yesterday at 12:50 p.m. at the St. Luke's Hospital. Mr. Leibenguth was operated upon for the removal of a tumor, about a week ago. He had been a sufferer of a complication of diseases for the past year and a half. The deceased is a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Leibenguth of Cherryville. His wife, Tavillia, nee Semmel, preceded him in death about six years ago. He was a carpenter by trade and resided with his son, Stewart Leibenguth, of the above address. There survive two sons, Stewart Leibenguth of this city, and Martin of Cleveland, O., and two daughters Esther of this city, and Verna at home. One grandchild also survives. Funeral services will be held Thursday evening at seven-thirty o'clock from the home of his son, No. 422 North Fulton street. Regular services will be held Friday morning at ten o'clock in the Unionville Church. Interment in cemetery adjoining. ___________________________________

Source: The Hartford Courant, Hartford, Connecticut Date: Sunday, 31 January 2013 Bernice Adeline (Bailey) Leibenguth, 97, of Ellington, passed away on Tuesday, (January 29, 2013) at Rockville General Hospital. Daughter of the late Ollie Bailey and Grace Clouser Bailey, she was born on September 25, 1915, in Bass Lake, Indiana. She met her husband, Robert Leibenguth, in Jefferson, Indiana. Bob was her high school boyfriend who, after graduating, moved to Connecticut. Bea also relocated to Connecticut, married Bob Leibenguth, and they had two sons, David and Richard. During Bea's long life in Connecticut, she has been an active member of Union Church for 60 years. She is also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution- Captain Noah Grant in Rockville; a member of the Hope Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star; and until recently, a member of the Rockville Hospital Auxiliary and a Rockville Hospital volunteer. Bea was also a member of the "Golden Steppers" and the Better Age Club in Ellington. She has been a faithful member of the Ellington Senior Center and regularly attended their Monday morning exercise program (even at the age of 96). Family has always been Bea's greatest passion- so very, very important to her. Besides family, one of her other passions was her garden…both flowers and veggies (which she canned, froze, or donated to others). Her family will never forget all those Sunday afternoon dinners at "Grandma Bea's." Bea is survived by her two sons, David and his wife Hazel of Wethersfield and Richard and his wife Herlina of Ellington; four grandchildren, Carolann Leibenguth of Robinson, IL, Amy Leibenguth of Wethersfield, Sarah Constantine of Westford, MA, and Peter Walsh of Vernon; seven great grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, and Tyler DePaolis of Wethersfield; Angela Constantine of Westford, MA; Dustin VanSchoyck of Robinson, IL; and Matthew and William Walsh of Vernon. She also leaves three nephews and a niece from Indiana, Bill, Phil, Jim, and Deloris, children of her late sister, Charlotte Stoops. Bea will be greatly missed. Her family will receive friends on Saturday, February 2, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Ladd Funeral Home, 19 Ellington Avenue in the Rockville section of Vernon, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. at Union Congregational Church, 3 Elm St., in Rockville. Burial will be held in Ellington Center Cemetery immediately following the service. Leibenguth, 436 Chestnut St. died at 12:05 p.m. Sunday at the Sacred Heart hospital, where he had been a patient for two weeks, He was in his 63rd year. Mr. Leibenguth was born in Treichlers May 18, 1874 a son of the late James and Eliza Leibenguth. Prior to moving to this city in 1911, he was employed for ten years as a clerk at the Bitter House in Slatington. Later he was employed at different times in freight stations of the Lehigh Valley Transit Co., the Lehigh Valley Railroad Co. and the Central Railroad Co. of New Jersey. His last employment was with the Pennsylvania Power and Light Co. He was a Lutheran by faith. Surviving are his wife, Jennie M. (Kern) Leibenguth, one son Clarence Leibenguth, at home; and two sisters: Mrs. Ella Christ, this City; and Mrs. Jennie Wagner, Walnutport. She was a member of Grace Reformed church and was affiliated with the Women's auxiliary of the Jeffersonian Democratic club, Northampton. The aft-expressed hope of Carolina E., wife of Charles H. Leibenguth, of Cherryville, to live to celebrate with her husband their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary will never be realized as yesterday she died at her home from ailments incident to old age. Death came at 5:30 o'clock. She was aged 72 years. Mrs. Leibenguth was born at Rockdale, a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Snyder Newhard. For the past twenty-six years, she was a resident of Cherryville and held the esteem of all members of the community. Not long ago she and her husband observed their fifty-fourth wedding anniversary and she was looking forward to next anniversaries of the event. She was an active member of the Reformed congregation of the Indianland church and of the Home department of the Sunday school of that church. Besides her husband, she is survived by tow sons, Jefferson M. of Northampton, and Harry F. of this city; three daughters, Mrs. Charles O. Worley, of Northampton; Mrs. James H. Wambold, of Walnutport R.1, and Mrs. Clarence A. Henry, of Walnutport R.2, twenty-three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and five sisters, Mrs. Mary Blose, of Kutztown; Mrs. Madina Roth, this city; Mrs. Lewis Laubach, Egypt; Mrs. Sallie Rhue, this city, and Mrs. Amelia Trumbauer, Pittsburgh. A son, two daughters, two brothers and sister preceded her in death. Columbia St., Whitehall Township, died Saturday, Aug. 10 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, following a motorcycle accident on Route 145, Whitehall Township. He was a computer programmer for Aetna Insurance Co., Allentown. He was president of the Theta Chi fraternity at Lycoming College, Williamsport, where he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in computer science and mathematics last year. Leibenguth was a 1991 graduate of Whitehall-Coplay High School, where he was president of the Key Club. Born in Allentown, he was a son of Carl Leibenguth of Slatington and Karen (Schmidt) Leibenguth Dax, with whom he resided, and a stepson of Louis Dax. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Catasauqua. Survivors: Parents and stepfather; sister, Krista Benko and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Meier, all of Whitehall; half brother, Brent Leibenguth of Lehighton; stepsister, Yvette, wife of Kevin Simper of Houston, Texas; companion, Tara Walbert, and nephews. 2nd Great Grandfather Source: The Morning Call, Allentown, Pennsylvania Date: February 12, 1947 "Cherryville Man Dies In Florida, Aged 95". Charles Leibenguth, a native of Cherryville, died Tuesday afternoon in St. Petersburg, Fla., where he had gone for a winter vacation. He was aged 95 years. Mr. Leibenguth had been retired the last 20 years. Prior to his retirement he had been employed for many years as a millwright at the Universal Atlas Cement Co. plant in Northampton. For a time following his retirement he operated a truck farm in Northampton county. Despite his advanced age, Mr. Leibenguth had been in apparent good health. Death is believed to have been caused by a heart stroke. He had been in the habit of taking daily walks from his St. Petersburg residence. He motored to Florida last October with a son, Harry. Born in Cherryville, he maintained his home there all his life. He was a son of the late Paul and Julia, nee Mack, Leibenguth. He was a member of the Reformed congregation at St. Paul's Union church, Indianland. He held membership in the Northampton lodge, No. 1026, IQOF. His wife , Caroline, nee Newhard, Leibenguth and two daughters and a son preceded him in death. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. James Wambold and Mrs. Clarence Henry, both of Walnutport R.1, and two sons, Jefferson, Northampton, and Harry, Cherryville. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be completed today by the Schisler funeral home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton. ___________________________________

An employee of Ross gear and Tool company for 27 years, he retired two years ago because of illness. He was born in Slatedale, Pa. but came to Lafayette in 1888. He was married Jan 20, 1903 to Amelia Lahrman, who survives. He was a member of the Catholic Order of foresters, No. 724 and St. Lawrence Church. He is also survived by two daughters, Mrs. Catherine Conlon, Beaver, Pa., and Mrs. Louise Buit, Lafayette: two sons Charles and Oliver both of Lafayette; a sister Mrs Ida Arnold, Lafayette and two brothers, Amandus, Lafayette and Joseph, Dayton. ___________________________________

"Pick" Leibenguth Jr., 76, of Bethlehem, died Wednesday, September 16, 2009 in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. He was the husband of Margaret R. (Dergosits) Leibenguth, to whom he was married five years and the late Jo Kathryn (Glavas) Leibenguth. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Clarence H. Sr. and Margaret I. (Wert) Leibenguth. He was an intelligence officer in the Army Security Agency, from 1953-1974 and a communication officer for the department of defense, from 1983-1995. He attained the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Army and was stationed throughout the United States and countries such as Japan, Germany, Greece, Austria, Thailand, Africa and Vietnam. Decorations and citations received during this time period include a Bronze Star, Meritorious Service, Air Medal, Joint Service Commendation, Army Commendation, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service with Cluster, Korean Service, Vietnam Service with three bronze stars, Army Forces Reserve, United Nations Service, Vietnam Campaign, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Vietnam Staff Service and Vietnam Technical Service. Prior to the service, he was a cement gun sprayer for Bethlehem Steel Corp., from 1951-1953. He was a mechanic at Mack Trucks, Allentown, for 32 years until retiring in 1986. A member of the United Auto Workers, Allentown Local 677, he was chief steward for 10 years, vice-president for six years and director of health and safety for six years. Leibenguth was also union representative to area organizations including the Sacred Heart Hospital board of directors, Red Cross, Hospital Central Services, Big Brothers, Eastern Pennsylvania Health maintenance Organization, National Safety Council and Miller Blood Center. Leibenguth, lifelong resident of Berlinsville, died yesterday in the Allentown hospital at 2:30 a.m., after an illness of four months. He was 60 years old. Born in Indianland, on May 4, 1884, he is the son of the late Revillyn and Alice, nee Best, Leibenguth. His wife Theresa, nee Maurer Leibenguth, preceded him in death five years ago. He has been employed as a crane operator for the past 19 years at the New Jersey Zinc. Co. of Palmerton. He was a member of St. Nicholas church of Berlinsville, Knights of St. George, of Slatington, St. Aloysius Young Men's society, of Allentown, and the Brotherhood of Locomotive, Firemen and Engineers, of Lehighton. Three daughters survive, Mrs. Alice M. Reber, of Palmerton, Mrs. Victor K. Strubinger and Mrs. Olive A. Erschen, of Berlinsville, and four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from his home in Berlinsville at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, followed by a solemn requiem mass in St. Nicholas church, Berlinsville. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Source: The Morning Call, Allentown, Pennsylvania Date: Saturday, 28 March 1931 "Cementon Stirred By Shooting; Aged Man Wounds Son, Ends Own Life; Incensed Over Being Put In County Home." Failing in an attempt to shoot his wife and son, David H. Leibenguth, 72, turned a revolver on himself and committed suicide yesterday morning about 8:40 o'clock, outside the family residence in Cementon. Fits of temper are said to have caused members of his family to have Leibenguth sent to the county home on October 17, 1929, by court order. Resentment of this is believed to have caused the flare of anger that made Leibenguth shoot twice at his wife and son, one bullet wounding the son, and then end his own life. Leibenguth, former proprietor of the Laurel house at Cementon and a businessman of that place for a number of years; returned from the county home on Thursday night. In company with Officer Howard Kelchner, Leibenguth went to the home but found his wife and son absent. As a result Leibenguth stayed overnight with his daughter, Mrs. Archie Zellner, of Cementon. Yesterday morning he returned to his home and the son saw him coming and locked the rear door. The wife Mrs. Susan Leibenguth and the son, Albert, went to a window and Mrs. Leibenguth says she saw her husband pull an object from his pocket that turned out to be a .32 caliber revolver. Mrs. Leibenguth screamed a warning to her son as she left the window but the son was hit by a bullet that struck him in the left arm, inflicting a flesh wound. Leibenguth then tried the front door and returned to the rear of the house, the wife and son hearing the report of a shot that ended his life. Neighbors called Officer Kelchner and he found the man lying on the rear porch, shot through the head. He was rushed to the Haff hospital but died a few minutes after admission. The son, a World War veteran, received treatment there for the wound, in the fleshy portion of his arm. Leibenguth was proprietor of Laurel house, late in the nineteenth century. Prior to that he had worked in the cement-kilns about Cementon and since leaving the hotel business had conducted a grocery store and worked as a carpenter, cooper, crossing watchman, odd-job man and operated a farm. He had made periodical visits fromthe county home since becoming resident there and always went to the home accompanied by an officer, except yesterday morning. Where he secured the gun has not been established. State highway patrolmen and Coroner, Fred R. Bausch conducted an investigation together with Officer Kelchner yesterday but all agreed on a verdict of suicide. Leibenguth was born in Indianland, Northampton county, the son of Daniel and Marie, nee Buck, Leibenguth Jr. He is survived by his widow , Susan, nee Peters, Leibenguth, by a daughter, Mrs. Archie Zellner of Cementon, and a son, Albert, at home. Three sisters, Mrs. Christiana Hauser, of Allentown; Mrs. Sabina Laub, of Northampton, and Mrs. Maria Person, of Philadelphia, survive. ___________________________________

Prior to that, she was a teaching principal at the former Livingston School, West Easton. Evelyn was a member of Memorial United Church of Christ where she was an Elder Emeritus and a former financial secretary. She was a life member of Northampton County Teachers Association, Kutztown Alumni Association, Easton Area Retired School Employees Association, Northampton County Retired School Employees Association and Pennsylvania Retired Public School Association. She was a member of National Retired Teachers Association and AARP and a former member of Womens Club of Easton, Cosmopolitan Club, Musical Arts Chorus and American Association of University Women. Leibenguth of 124 S. 15th St., died at 11:30 p.m. Thursday at the Allentown hospital, where he had been a patient since March 18. He was 85 years old and had been in ill health for the past two years. A native of Cherryville, he was the son of the late Reuben and Lydia, nee Wentz, Leibenguth, and he was the last of his family. He came to Allentown 50 years ago becoming associated with the firm of Helfrich and Bohner, furniture dealers. Later he became a partner in the business. With the development of the automobile, he established the Keystone Vulcanizing Works, which he operated until his retirement five years ago. His wife, Sarah, nee Reinhardt, Leibenguth, died in 1920. He had been ill for a week. Mr. Leibenguth was born near Mulberry on August 7, 1871, and was the son of James and Maria (Wehr) Lebibenguth. His entire has been spent in Clinton county. On January 26,1897 he was married to Flora E. Ruch, who survives with one daughter Miss Faye Alberta Leibenguth, at home. Four sisters, Mrs. Ada Whitehead, of Rossville; Mrs. Julia Seager, of Greenstown; Mrs. Jennie Franklin, of Frankfort, and Esther Kliensmith, of Mulberry also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Trinity Reformed church, of which Mr. Leibenguth was an active elder. Interment will be made in Fair Haven cemetery. He had been in ill health the last two years. He was born in Mulberry, Ind., a son of Charles and Carolina (Newhard) Leibenguth, but came to Pennsylvania with his parents at an early age. He had been a resident of Northampton for about 50 years and was at one time employed by cement manufacturers in that vicinity. Leibenguth was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran church and Alliance Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1, both of Northampton. Although she had been in poor health for several months, Mrs. Leibenguth was active about her house and among her friends and her death was not expected. Mrs. Leibenguth was born in Lafayette July 18, 1895; she lived in Jasper county nine years and the remainder of her life in Lafayette. She was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Stover. On September 14, 1914 she was married to Mr. Leibenguth and one child was born to them. She was a member of the First Christian church. Surviving are the Husband, a daughter Mistral; her parents, an aged grandmother four step-brothers and one step-sister. The body was removed to the Rogers and Smith funeral home. Laura E. widow of the late Henry Leibenguth, died at the family residence on Maple street, Coplay, at six o'clock last evening, after a short illness, aged 45 years. Deceased was a daughter of the late Adam Frickert and wife Susannah, nee Leh, and was born at Coplay, then known as "Lehigh Valley". During her entire lifetime she was prominently identified with St. John's Lutheran Church, Coplay, and was an active worker especially in the Sunday school. Hers was the fifth death in the Leibenguth family within a little more than a year's times. There survive to mourn her loss two children. Grew and Jennie, both residing at home. Source: The Morning Call, Allentown, Pennsylvania Date: Thursday, 3 September 2009 A late-night argument in a Slatington-area mobile home ended when a 70-year-old resident pulled a rifle and told a guest, "I'll kill you if you don't get out of here." Leroy J. Leibenguth Jr. of 3025 Scout House Road, Washington Township, was arrested and charged Tuesday with making terroristic threats in the Aug. 25 incident. Leibenguth pointed a .22-caliber rifle at Carl N. Hettler after a heated discussion in which Hettler told Leibenguth to stay away from Hettler's son Chris, state police at Bethlehem said in the arrest affidavit. According to one witness, police said, Leibenguth told Carl Hettler that if he crossed paths with Hettler's son, he would shoot him. Police said Leibenguth had problems with Hettler's son, but police did not specify what they were. About 10:30 p.m., Leibenguth picked up his rifle and, within 5 or 6 feet of Hettler, pointed it at him and made the threat, police said. Lloyd Peters, a mutual friend of Leibenguth and Hettler, reacted by knocking Leibenguth back and taking the rifle from him, police said. Peters told police he then checked the rifle and found a live round in the chamber, the affidavit says. Peters also unloaded the gun. Leibenguth was arraigned Tuesday night by District Judge Donna R. Butler on charges of making terroristic threats, simple assault and reckless endangerment. Butler sent Leibenguth to Lehigh County Prison under $40,000 bail. ___________________________________

Her daughter, who was in the yard, entered the house and found her mother missing. She started to search for her and found her lying in the chicken coop unconscious. She was carted into the house and a physician summoned. Deceased was 65 years old and is survived by her husband and two daughters, Ellen at home, and Mrs. S.S. Everett, of Treichler's. Leibenguth, retired electrician, died at 1:45 a.m. yesterday in his home along the Shoenersville - Weaversville road, Bethlehem R.2, where he lived for the last 18 years. He was 73 and had been in failing health for the last six months. Born in Laurys, he was a son of the late Henry and Fianna (Schneck) Leibenguth. At one time, Leibenguth was employed as an electrician at the Whitehall Cement Co., Cementon. Later, he worked at Bethlehem Steel Co., retiring 10 years ago. He was of the Evangelical and Reformed faith. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Helen (Mickley) Leibenguth, and a son, Thomas, at home. Source: The Morning Call, Allentown, Pennsylvania Date: May 9, 1910 Mrs. Amandus Leibenguth, while in the yard feeding the chickens, Mary, wife of Amandus Leibenguth of near Treichler's was stricken with apoplexy, which resulted in her death several hours later. Her daughter, who was in the yard, entered the house and found her mother missing. She started to search for her and found her lying in the chicken coop unconscious. She was carted into the house and a physician summoned. Deceased was 65 years old and is survived by her husband and two daughters, Ellen at home, and Mrs. S.S. Everett, of Treichler's. The following sisters and brothers also survive: Mrs. Smith of Mauch Chunk; Mrs. John Lynn and John Hall of Treichler's; Frank Hall, of Berlinsville, and Amandes Hall of Mulberry Ind. The funeral will take place on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with services and interment at St. Paul's Church, Indianland. Rev. J.J. Reitz and H.A. Frantz officiating. ___________________________________

Leibenguth, 90, of Hanover Township, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012, in Moravian Village Health Care Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Alvena (Swartz) Leibenguth who passed away in 2002.Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late LaRue, Sr. and Elerta (Stehler) Leibenguth. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and later worked as an industrial engineer for Western Electric for 38 years before retiring in 1985. He was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Hanover Township. where he had served on Church Council, was an usher, reader, and active in the activities of the church. He was a member of Saucon Lodge of F&AM #469, Coopersburg, High Twelve and Lehigh Consistory Valley of Allentown and also a member of the Engineers Club of the Lehigh Valley. Survivors: Although there are no immediate survivors, Roland had many nieces and nephews, including Joyce Gildner of Palmerton, as well as friends in the community and his church. A 1 year old Allentown girl died yesterday after apparently choking on a piece of apple she was eating at her home. Susan Marie Leibenguth of 924 Gordon St., daughter of Albert A. and Anna Mae (Reichel) Leibenguth, died at 6:08 p.m. about 10 minutes after her arrival at Allentown Hospital. Allentown police, who took the child to the hospital, said the child was eating a piece of apple and fell. It was believed the piece of apple lodged in her throat. An autopsy will be performed today to determine the cause of death. Susan Marie was born in Allentown. In recognition of her activities in the field of church music, Violet was made a fellow of Wessex Theological College in Sherborne, England, in 1991. Source: The Missoulian, Missoula, Montana Date: Friday, 3 June 2011 Virginia Conway Leibenguth passed away peacefully at her home in Missoula on Wednesday, June 1, 2011. She was born Sept. 30, 1926, to Joseph and Madeline Conway. Born and raised in Allentown, Pa., she graduated from Allentown High School in 1944. In the fall of 1945 she met Martin Leibenguth while working at S. S. Kresge. Her soulmate sweet talked her into marriage the following summer on July 20, 1946. Virginia soon became a "Master Mover," as she moved from coast to coast and back again following Martin's job. It was said, "No one can pack a rambler with seven kids, a dog and all the necessities faster than Mom!" The family settled in the Missoula area in 1973 where she could finally put down roots. Ginger's life was centered around her family. She was an avid fan and cheerleader for each of her children and grandchildren, always there for us on the sideline of sports and life. Traveling wasn't always her first choice of leisure time, yet travel she did to please others, from Fiji to the Caribbean, Mexico to Hawaii, cruises, or the Oregon Coast. She treasured her friends dearly, and loved sunning on the beach. She loved shopping and had a passion for finding a great bargain. Nothing tickled her more than playing cards with her friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Bernie, Anna, Kitty and Marie; her brothers, Joe and Billy as well as her daughter Linda. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Martin; daughter Marie (Michael) Stockhill; sons Guy (Whitney), Scott (Susan), Rod (Randy) and daughters Kim and Marti; grandchildren, Randy, Ashley, Tiffany, Jessica, Jeremy, Brittney, Robbi, Reno, Bryce, Kali and Travis. He was the husband of Virginia (Folland) Leibenguth. Born in Northampton, he was the son of Mrs. Florence (Levan) Leibenguth and the late Jefferson Leibenguth. Leibenguth was a member of Salem UCC in Catasauqua. He had been employed as a shipping clerk at the former Eagle Brewing Co. of Catasauqua for 22 years and for the past seven years as a maintenance man at Cedar Brook. Surviving besides his widow and mother, are a son, Willard J., at home; two daughters Josephine, wife of Gary Ebert of Allentown and Julieann, at home, four sisters, Grace, wife of Quintus Mory of Allentown, Arlene, wife of Charles Simpson of Palmerton, Mrs. Renae Smith of Orefield, and Lorraine, wife of Willard Hockman of Northampton; and two grandchildren. Schwartz Camp, No. 2 U.S.W.V., when taps were sounded Tuesday for William F. Leibenguth, an active member of the Camp, who passed away at the Allentown hospital at the age of 64 years. He had been a patient at the hospital since last Thursday, suffering with a complication of ailments. Comrade Leibenguth had two separate enlistments in the Philippines to his credit. At the outbreak of the war with Spain in 1898, he stole his way to Philadelphia on a fast milk train in order to enlist in the service. That was on December 2,1898. After enlisting he was sent to Jefferson barracks, St. Louis, Mo. Prior to sailing from San Francisco for Manila, where he served in the First Battery E; U.S. Light Battery Artillery. He took part with the Eight Army Corps at Morong July 2 and 3, Calamba and Los Banous, July 27 and 30, and then on the North line Kolokan and Angeles September 16 and 28, and October 3, 5, 16 and 22; Magalang November 5, and Conception and Capas, November 11, 1898. Returning to Preside. San Francisco he was mustered out with honorable discharge. He re-enlisted at Davenport Iowa, in the Sixteenth Infantry in 1905, returning to the Philippines, where he served with Company B for 18 months and similar length of time with Company F. He took part in a number of engagements in 1906 and 1907, returning with his command to Fort Crook, Nebraska, where he was mustered out January 11, 1908. He was a son of Samuel Leibenguth who served in the Civil War as a Substitute. Little is known of Comrade Leibenguth's family. He is said to have been practically alone in this city having maintained a room for some time at the Lentz restaruant. One of Comrade Leibenguth's requests often expressed to members of Schwartz camp is to be honored by camp officers when they arrange for his funeral and provide burial space in the camp plot in Greenwood cemetery. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the J. S. Burkholder Funeral home, 1601 Hamilton Street. Detailed arrangements will be made at a meeting of Schwartz camp tomorrow night. Peters, was united in marriage to Ray Leibenguth, a prominent young farmer residing near Dayton. The ceremony ,which took place at 7 o'clock. was preformed by Rev. W.J. Malcolm pastor of the Dayton Presbyterian church ,in the presence of near relatives and a few friends of the contracting parties. Previous to the ceremony, Miss Maurine Hooke rendered two vocal selestions, "O Promise Me" and " I Love You Truly". The bride, accompanied by her father , stepped into the parlor, and was followed by the groom, while Miss Elsie Carpenter played the wedding march from "Lohengrin". The bride was gowned in white crepe meteor, Trimmed with rhinestones and carried a beautiful bouquet of white roses. Miss Mary Brand, the little sister of the groom acted as ring bearer and wore a dress of white crepe trimmed with lace. The decorations were carried out in pink and white carnations and ferns being used extensively. After the ceremony, a two course wedding dinner was served, when the young couple left on their honeymoon. They will visit for a few days in Chicago. After the first of March they will be at home to their friends in their country home southeast of Dayton. Both Mr. and Mrs. Leibenguth come from highly respected families and are well-known and popular young people. The out of town guest at the nuptials were Mr.and Mrs. A.C. Dick was born in Old Salem on October 27, 1922 to Caleb Alfred and Effie Motsinger Livengood. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and served in the Regular U.S. Marine Corps from 1941 to 1945. During most of World War II, Dick served with the 1st Marine Division in the South Pacific. After the war, Dick became general manager and secretary of Piedmont Concrete Company, Inc., and secretary of Owen Concrete Company, Inc. He later became co-owner and vice-president of O and A, Inc. before retiring in December 1969. He is survived by his wife, Edna Helvey Livengood, a son, Stephen Merritt Martin and wife Judy of Chatsworth, Georgia, two daughters, Elizabeth (Libby) and husband Dennis R. Ayers of Winston-Salem, Dawn and husband J. Martin Widger of Littleton, Colorado, and two grandsons, Brandon and Christopher Widger. Dick is preceded in death by a son, Alfred, Jr., three sisters, and three brothers. The body will lie in repose at Salem Funerals & Cremations, 120 S. Main Street, on Friday and Saturday, December 4 and 5 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. A funeral service will be held at Home Moravian Church on Sunday, December 6, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Carl S. Frank had sold John Deere equipment for McCullough Equipment in Kittanning and for Hindman Equipment in Butler for many years. After retiring from the equipment sales business, Frank went to work for Woodsman of the World Life Insurance Company. He enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting, and spending winters in Florida. Frank is survived by his wife of 65 years Virginia O (Bowser) Livengood; his daughter Nancy (Donald) DeVore of South Buffalo Twp.; two grandsons, Van (Dawn) Vasbinder of Clover, SC, and Donald (Lisa) DeVore of Ford City, and five great grandchildren.
